Minister pushed on support for postmasters
High Lane postal services have been held up while decisions are taken on terms for postmasters
Royal Mail deliveries have been an ongoing issue in the area, and she took the opportunity to speak to the team there about the work that they are doing to get more staff in, the main issue affecting deliveries.
Lisa said: “The posties were incredibly friendly, and you could see the efforts they had been making. New staff have been employed and will be starting soon, which should make a much-needed difference to getting deliveries out on time.
“Late deliveries are an issue nationwide, but problems around Bredbury have been particularly significant. Residents have been in touch with us when they have been receiving hospital appointments on the day they were due to take place. I am glad Royal Mail are taking real steps to address this.”
The MP delivered a round of mail in Bredbury, and having been a local councillor for several years before becoming the MP, she was very familiar with the route.
She said: “Once you’ve delivered a round of leaflets a few times, it becomes almost second nature. I knew where all the letter boxes were, so hopefully I made a decent fist of it. If a Liberal Democrat couldn’t do deliveries properly, I think that might be a sacking offence.”
