Royal Mail deliveries raised by local MP
Local MP Lisa Smart has been out on the doorsteps this week, but this time it was helping out the local Royal Mail with one of their rounds, as she saw round the sorting office, and got a feel for their work.
New Liberal Democrat MP Lisa Smart has presented a petition to the Government in Parliament about keeping post office services in High Lane, after over 1,500 people signed petitions about the imminent closure of the local post office in just over a week.
Over 800 people signed a petition via her website, and a separate petition organised by staff from the post office received over 700 signatures.
Liberal Democrat MP for Hazel Grove constituency, Lisa Smart, said: “It’s vital that we keep local services such as post offices. It’s what turns a village into a community.
“The volume of responses we have received show just how important this is to local people. We’re talking to the Post Office management to look at what options there are for keeping services in the area.”
