Smart fires starter’s gun on countdown to General Election

Hazel Grove Parliamentary Candidate Lisa Smart was the keynote speaker as the Liberal Democrats finished their Annual Conference ready to take on the Conservatives in key seats across the country.

She said: “We’re here to fight and win elections so that we can serve and empower our communities to get stuff done. We keep going, because it really matters.

“In the North, the feeling of being taken for granted by this Conservative Government is layered on top of sustained underinvestment, on top of much-trumpeted but underwhelming devolution deals that leave local communities still having to ask for scraps from the Westminster table.

“That’s why in the north of England, in Cumbria, in Yorkshire and yes, in Hazel Grove, we are fighting and we are fighting to win.”
