MP wants dentists’ views on NHS services
Local MP Lisa Smart is carrying out a survey of local dentists to get their views on the best ways to improve people’s access to NHS services.
She has a sent a survey to all the dentists in the constituency, asking them if different policies which have been put forward would work to increase NHS coverage in our area.
Lib Dem MP Lisa Smart said: “After repairs to Stepping Hill, constituents tell me this is the most important healthcare issue for people here, and I want to make sure that I’m fighting for approaches that work.
”If we want to turn this around, we need to make sure that local dentists will buy in to our solutions. While they provide an excellent service, too much of it is only available to people privately, and we need to make sure that changes.”
Many dentists across the UK have said that the current NHS contract – the deal which dentists sign to provide services through the NHS – is not fit for purpose, and discourages dentists from public provision.
Hazel Grove MP Lisa Smart added: “Thousands of people answered out healthcare survey last year, giving us a real insight into what people’s concerns are.
“It’s vital to listen to people, whether it’s the public who get the service or the professionals who deliver it. That’s why my team spends so much time making sure we understand everyone’s point of view, and then delivering the right approach.”
