MP takes to the saddle with Woodbank wheelers

Local MP Lisa Smart took to the track with the Wheelers at Woodbank Park this week, an accessible cycling group run by Supportability.
The group meets at the park on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with bikes for children and adults. As well as a fleet of 24 regular bikes, they have 36 specially adapted cycles and trikes such as hand cycles and side-by-side bikes.
Lisa said: “It was tremendous fun to meet everyone, have a chat, and do something good for my health on a sunny Thursday morning. It was great to see so many people there just being able to have a good time.
“The staff and volunteers who run it do a fantastic job, and are just so welcoming – they made it really easy for everyone, and we’re so lucky that our community has people who make things like this happen.”
Dawn Cameron, the Day Services Manager at Supportability, added: “We were very excited to have Lisa and her colleagues visit Wheelers. It means a lot to have our local MP see the value in the service we offer to local people.
“We offer a safe place for people of all abilities to enjoy cycling and socialise with like minded people, creating a space to improve physical, mental and social wellbeing.”
