She also visited the recently renovated Terminal Two building, the subject of a £1.3 billion investment, which has provided even more jobs for people across the area.

Lisa asked Manchester Airport Managing Director Chris Woodroofe about local workforce recruitment and retention, improving integrated transport connectivity, benefiting passengers and airport staff, regional investment, and the airport’s plans for growth and development.

Lisa said: “It was great to visit and meet the many staff who work at and make Manchester Airport what it is – great people like Brendon, a driver at the airport and one of the 700 constituents from my patch, who do a stellar job keeping our local airport moving and helping all of us get from A to B.”

During the visit, Lisa joined staff on a tour of the newly renovated Terminal Two building, which underwent a £1.3bn transformation. The design combines a modern, open feel with nods to Greater Manchester’s culture and heritage. She also heard about the airport’s plans to showcase and promote even more local brands and retailers from across the region.

Lisa also heard from staff around final touches coming to the airport and next steps on providing dedicated training and development opportunities for staff, or those looking to take their first steps into careers at the airport.

Lisa added: “Manchester Airport is our gateway to the world. While it’s encouraging to see more destinations and routes being added, we must focus on improving connections closer to home — making it easier for airport staff to get to work at all hours, and for passengers across the region and the North to ditch the car and choose public transport instead.”
