The Tory run County Council are proposing to close the Gedling Household Waste and Recyling Centre on Arnold Lane. The County Council are looking to save money and claim that the Centre at Gedling is poorly utilized. They also believe that many people who live outside the County Council area, such as residents of the City of Nottingham are crossing the "County border" to use the Centre rather than their own Centre within the City boundaries.
After the recent cold weather the roads in Southampton up cracking up even worse than before, as the ice combined with the Council's emphasis on patching rather than whole road proper resurfacing has left our roads in a shocking state. The council only response is emergency funds to increase the patching and as everyone is aware these patches only last until the next spot of bad weather.
Cllr David Kendall, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Brentwood Borough Council, has expressed his shock and sadness on hearing the news that Alan Cherry has passed away today after a short illness.
