Save our green belt

The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Mayor Dave Hodgson Signs Agreement with Stagecoach for £67,000 Programme of Improvements at Bedford Bus Station

Mayor Dave Hodgson has signed an agreement with Stagecoach for a £67,000 programme of improvements at Bedford Bus Station, improving a key gateway to the town centre. The bus station is due to be removed and re-located a short distance as part of the planned redevelopment of Bedford Town Centre, but with this project held up by the recession and the collapse in the housing market, Dave Hodgson has made a deal with Stagecoach, its owners, which involves real improvements to the area and an ongoing commitment to a high level of maintenance.
