Save our green belt

The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Holocaust Memorial Day - 27 January 2010

Local residents are invited to a Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration next Wednesday (27th January 2010) 6.30pm to 9.30pm at Hylands House, near Chelmsford. The event is hosted by Chelmsford Borough Council and is on the international day of remembrance for the victims of the Holocaust and other genocides. Commented local Lib Dem Stephen Robinson, "I think it is important that everyone remembers what can happen if you start down the slippery path of singling out different groups in society just because of their background. Wherever we are born, whatever our backgrounds, we are all people entitled to non-discrimination."
