Tories can´t be trusted on the NHS
Cllr David Kendall, parliamentary spokesman, has echoed the comments of Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary Norman Lamb MP following David Cameron´s NHS announcement. Mr Lamb said:
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Local MP Tim Farron has teamed up with Age Concern South Lakeland to draw up six top tips to ensure older people remain well and warm this winter.
Local MP Tim Farron has welcomed the moves by South Lakeland District Council and the Lib Dem-run local committee of the County Council to work together in the effort to clear pathways and car parks from compacted snow and ice.
Mr Farron has reiterated his call for stronger regulation of supermarkets and has proposed a powerful independent Food Market Regulator to monitor and penalise supermarkets that treat producers unfairly.
"Political leaders failed because they did not decide far earlier in the day on how decisions at Copenhagen would be reached," said the Liberal Democrat Shadow Energy and Climate Change Secretary.
