The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Major improvements to Cheriton Rec are on the way after years of pressure from local residents, park users and your local Lib Dem team. The park has been agreed as a priority to development after resident consultation and projects are in place to improve the play equipment, facilities and general environment at the park.

Sandgate Farmers Market 2010 Dates

Following the successful pre-Christmas launch of Farmers' Markets at Sandgate's Chichester Memorial Hall, dates have now been announced for markets through 2010. The markets sell locally produced food and crafts and run from 10am - midday on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month with refreshments available.

Economy can't be managed by power-play between ministers says Cable

Commenting on Alistair Darling's remarks on the need for tough spending cuts, which are being seen as a victory for the Chancellor and Lord Mandelson's views over those of Gordon Brown, Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor Vince Cable said "It is very clear that the Pre-Budget Report did not reflect Alistair Darling's views on how the economy should be managed."
