A wrecking ball next to the words save our green belt

Save our green belt

The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Find our more about the local plan on our frequently asked questions page.

Rights! What Rights?

On 28th December Barrie Skelcher blasted away again with his blustergun on Europe. Now I can't tell if he is attacking Europe or the European Union. Neither is governed as he claims by a President so it is very confusing about what he is actually complaining about this time. What was starkly obvious was his lack of knowledge of British traditions. We are not citizens! The French and Germans are citizens, but we Mr Skelcher are subjects! Subjects of the Crown, and long may it remain so!

Mid Sussex District Council thinks its response to adverse weather is to clear the council car parks

The District Council still seems to think highways and pavements are solely the County Council's responsibility and only seem to be gritting the main car parks (using contractors apparently). Yet many of their staff may be under employed because the weather (no bin service and leisure centres closed) so it would be nice to think that more could be done to help local residents to clear roads and pavements.
