The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

No place for homophobic legislation in Europe

Today the European Parliament in its Plenary in Strasbourg adopted a resolution initiated by members of the Lib Dem (ALDE) group on the Lithuanian law on the "Protection of Minors against the Detrimental Effects of Public Information". The resolution asks the Agency for fundamental rights to give an opinion on the law and the amendments to it in the light of the EU treaties and EU law and also reaffirms the importance for the EU in the fight against all forms of discrimination, and, in particular, discrimination based on sexual orientation.

A nice cup of tea at Maydenbury

One of the things I enjoy about being a councillor is the chance it gives me to meet people from all walks of life. As candidate for Mayor this gives me a great reason to meet even more people than usual. Today I popped into the monthly Coffee Morning at Maydenbury House in Brickhill for a nice cup of tea and chatted with many of the residents.
