The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? MP's Office Celebrates St. George's Day in Style

Rochdale MP Paul Rowen's Office was a sea of red and white today as Rochdale celebrates St George's Day. Paul's Office, which is located on Drake Street, was draped with a number of St Georges's flags and he has recently called for St George's Day to become an official bank holiday.

Lib Dems win ID Card Vote at Royal Borough

The The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has voted to resist any attempt to make the council participate in trials of the National Identity card after councillors voted to support a Lib Dem Motion proposing to boycott the scheme.

Most of the Council Tax paid by Essex residents is spent by Essex County Council, which is led by a 50-strong group of Conservative councillors. Those 50 councillors all receive a substantial basic allowance for the work that they do.

Rochdale Flies the Flag for St George's Day

Rochdale has marked St George's day with the raising of the flag outside the famous steps of the Town Hall. Leader of Rochdale Council, Alan Taylor, was joined by fellow Councillors and members of the public on a glorious sunshine filled day for the celebrations. The St George's Flag was also seen to be flying from many cars, pubs and homes across the town.
