Dear Editor,
John Prescott's proposals to ease the shortage of affordable housing will do little to help the people of South Devon. The few good ideas in his announcement will hardly scratch the surface of the problem.
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Since both universities are in my constituency, I have a large proportion of resident students, many of whom regularly share their concerns and, in many cases, their anger at the prospect of paying fees. I want to raise several of those concerns with the Minister.
Worried residents in Maybury and Woodham have been contacting Anne Lee and asking for her help about the proposal for an anaerobic digestion and gasification plant to be built in the industrial estate at Monument Way.
