Save our green belt
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Another quango won't solve inequality
Commenting on Harriet Harman's announcement that the Government is to create a National Equality Panel to tackle inequality, Liberal Democrat Equalities Spokesperson, Lynne Featherstone said: "After a decade in power it is astonishing for Labour to think that yet another quango is going to solve deep-rooted social inequality. A panel of experts is not going to tell them anything that charities and NGOs haven't been shouting from the rooftops about for some time - inequality is growing.

Sandgate Road: sewer collapse confirmed and full repairs now needed
Fears that Sandgate Road in Folkestone was suffering from serious sewer collapse have been confirmed by Kent Highways Services in a response to enquiries by Folkestone Councillor Tim Prater.

Horn Street Closure now expected to last until Mid-November
Water main replacement in Horn Street is now expected to take until mid-November to complete, according to an update received by Cheriton Lib Dem Councillor Tim Prater from Kent Highways Services. The road has been closed to through traffic since January this year, with the work expected to take only around 4 months originally.

Is the last post sounding for Wolverhampton Post Offices?
Wolverhampton Liberal Democrats today witnessed the Last Post being played on a Cornet outside the Newhampton Road West Post Office in response to the Government and Royal Mail's attempt to close five Post Offices across Wolverhampton.
