The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Buckhurst Hill Lib Dems respond to Destroying of Trees

Without warning, very early on the Saturday morning immediately after the District Council elections ,councillors Peter Spencer and Malcolm Woollard were summoned by residents in Hornbeam Road and Chestnut Avenue to witness the new owner of a triangle of land in Buckhurst Hill destroy trees and wildlife on a site previously owned by the Charles S French Charitable Trust.

Lost and Stolen Identities and Documents: A Sign of Things to Come for ID Cards?

Anti-ID Card campaigners have highlighted two separate issues this week which increase fears for the forthcoming Identity Card scheme. The identities of 13,000 civil servants have been stolen from Department of Work and Pensions databases by organised criminals, and around 600,000 documents have been reported lost or stolen by the Identity and Passport Service.

Dundee City Council Liberal Democrat Finance Convener Cllr Fraser Macpherson today (Friday 19th May) said he had received strong feedback from his constituents in the City's West End and this was "unanimously against" the NHS Tayside proposals to increase parking charges at Ninewells Hospital.

Shepway Councillor Quits Conservatives

Sandgate Conservative Councillor Joy Macmillan has resigned from the Party in Shepway. Joy Macmillan announced she was to become an Independent councillor on Tuesday night following a Conservative group meeting. Shepway Liberal Democrat Councillors backed Joy Macmillan in her bid to remain as Deputy Chair of the Council for a second year, and praised her courage.
