The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

MP on the spot at Walk Cumbria events

Tim Farron, MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale, will be in the hot seat at two events organised as part of the Walk Cumbria Mission; on Friday night Tim will be facing an audience of young people who have been invited to 'grill' him on issues of Christianity and politics a Question Time session with the Bishops of Penrith and Carlisle this Saturday.

Farron backs 'Race for Life' in parliament

Local MP, Tim Farron has today tabled a parliamentary motion in support of Cancer Research UK's 'Race for Life' campaign. The 'Race for Life' was first organised in 1994 and has since raised millions of pounds for Cancer Research in the UK. Women up and down the country will begin running their 5km 'Race for Life' this weekend.

"Dales signpost needed for M6" - Farron

Local MP, Tim Farron has today called for the installation of a signpost before junction 37 of the M6, alerting drivers to the fact that the Yorkshire Dales are only a short distance from the motorway. Sedbergh is the biggest population centre in the Dales and yet there is no signpost to the Dales from the motorway.
