After months of public discussion it has been decided not to close Moorlands Infants School. Many parents on the Townhill estate, West End were extremely concerned over the schools future.
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Commenting ahead of Alistair Darling's announcement on Tuesday for the Government's future plans for transport, Liberal Democrat Shadow Transport Secretary John Thurso MP said:

Liberal Democrat Councillor David Foster was elected Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen at the Annual Council Meeting on 1 July 2004.
Following a period of uncertainty Labour have retained control of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, but they are dependent on the support of a group of Independent Councillors.
The two Liberal Democrat candidates in the Earcroft by-election made a strong showing and pushed the Conservatives into third place.
