The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? The Liberal Democrat vote in the West Chelmsford constituency was up 3% and overtook Labour to take second place to the Conservatives. Labour were down 4%. Despite being the "official opposition" and facing an unpopular Government, the Conservatives have failed to make much progress.
The Liberal Democrats had the biggest vote increase in Dundee at the recent General Election of ANY of the parties. In Dundee West, NYKOMA GARRY increased our vote to over 5,300 - hugely up on 2001 - taking an extra 5.2% of the total vote share and pushing the Tories firmly into fourth place.
Tania Exley-Moore has thanked the 7,495 people who voted for her on election day. Speaking to the Scarborough Evening News Tania said she was 'chuffed to bits' with her vote, which almost doubled the 2001 Liberal Democrat vote.
