The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Fight for Ashford International Eurostar links continue

A petition has been set up on the Downing Street web site (http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Ashford-Brussels/) calling for the retention of direct Eurostar services from Ashford to Brussels. As highlighted by Lib Dem MEP Sharon Bowles the service is rumoured to be under further threat after direct services to Paris were axed.

Lib Dems launch vision for a Safer, Greener, Fairer Chelmsford

There will be more Police + Community Support Officers, increased recycling and more funding for pavement and pothole repairs in Chelmsford - if the Liberal Democrats gain control of the Borough Council on 3rd May. These are just a few of the key pledges in the party's Manifesto launched in front of Hylands House. The Manifesto, entitled "For a Safer, Greener, Fairer Chelmsford", sets out the Lib Dem vision for Chelmsford and the action they will take to realise that vision.

Free Parcels for British Armed Forces Motion

At last months full City Council meeting, the Leader of the City Council, Councillor Roger Blackmore, seconded by Knighton Lib Dem Councillor Joan Garrity, placed forward a motion asking for the Government to drop charges for parcel delivery for our overseas stationed armed forces.
