Save our green belt
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Conference Report
Stockton's representatives at the Federal Party conference in Bournemouth included Jacquie Bell our PPC. Jacquie spoke in the debate on pensions, pointing out the need for flexible arrangements to allow as many older people as possible to manage their own affairs with dignity. She spoke of the problems experienced by some who have moved into residential and care homes.

Allotments are on the Agenda
Faced with growing waiting lists and an increasing number of complaints, Cllr Colin Taylor (Lib Dem, Stamford) has asked the Chairman of the council's Leisure Committee to put allotments on the agenda of the next meeting in October.
