The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? A venue in Shropshire has become the first village hall to be granted a licence to offer same-sex civil partnership ceremonies.
Ted Heath, former prime minister and Conservative leader passed away aged 89. Parliamentary business was suspended after tributes had been paid by political allies and opponents alike.
Commenting on the Chancellor's statement to change the definition of the economic cycle, Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor Vince Cable MP has said "This makes a mockery of the Golden Rule and shows again the need for independent scrutiny of fiscal policy. For too long the Chancellor has been setting his own tests and then taking credit for having passed. He should admit he has made a mistake this time."
