The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Lib Dems propose bus boost to fight Chelmsford congestion

Under a bold new Lib Dem plan, town centre facilities such as the University, Rail/Bus Station, Cathedral, Shopping Centres, Market and Car Parks would be linked up by a 'Circular Bus Service' operating on a very frequent basis. Local Liberal Democrats are proposing a detailed feasibility study into a new plan to cut congestion, noise and pollution in Chelmsford.

A campaign to support local Post Offices has clocked up an early success but these same Post Offices were left reeling by the latest national announcement. Local Liberal Democrats launched a campaign to save the Post Office Card Account two weeks ago and have already collected hundreds of signatures.

Lib Dems oppose ID cards as Simon Burns and Tories back down

West Chelmsford MP Simon Burns has been accused by Lib Dem Stephen Robinson of caving in to the Government over the introduction of identity cards. The Identity Cards Bill passed into law with most Conservatives abstaining on the final vote and only the Liberal Democrats solidly against.
