The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Ealing Southall MP dies aged 82

The MP for Ealing Southall, Piara Khabra, has sadly died aged 82. He had been the Labour MP for Ealing Southall since the 1992 General Election. The oldest member of the House of Commons, Mr Khabra, was reported as having been been undergoing treatment for liver problems.

Shepway hit by Flash Floods and Power Cuts after Severe Storm

The BBC report that residents across Shepway and East Kent are spending the day mopping up after a night of storms on Tuesday evening brought flooding and power cuts to thousands of homeowners. Two inches of torrential rain fell in places between around 6 and 9.30pm, with parts of Folkestone, New Romney and Dover the worst affected.
