The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Rochdale Liberal Democrats have campaigned hard to save our post offices

Post Offices - one saved, six for the axe!

It has now been confirmed that six Post Offices in the Rochdale Borough face the axe, only Spotland Road Post Office has been saved. The potential closures, part of the Government's Post Office closure planwill be officially announced next week. Rochdale Borough Council will now step in and start negotiations with Post Office Limited aiming to pay the Government subsidy and keep willing branches open. The list of decisions:

Councillor maps out Heywood's crime problems

Heywood Councillor Peter Rush has slammed Greater Manchester Police after they failed to locate Holy Family School and Pothall Bridge following complaints of youths climbing on the school roof. Councillor Rush claimed that the operator did not even know where Heywood was!
