The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

The Conservatives have won the New Romney Coast by-election to Shepway District Council. After a hard fought campaign, Liberal Democrat candidate Brian Wright congratulated the winning candidate Shane Lawrence.

Mayor Dave Hodgson and the Lib Dems to Sign the Council up to 10:10 Climate Change Campaign

Bedford Borough Council is set to take radical action to tackle climate change by signing up to the national 10:10 Climate Change Campaign, thanks to Mayor Dave Hodgson and the Liberal Democrats. The campaign calls on individuals, businesses and other organisations to work towards a 10% cut in carbon emissions in 2010, and the Council will commit to reaching this target as part of Dave Hodgson's drive for real action to protect the local and wider environment.
