The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

Liberal Democrat Councillors have attacked new proposals to increase the number of flights at Farnborough Airfield claiming the plan would have a devastating effect on the lives of local residents.
Although the Council's target for new affordable homes completed in 2008/2009 is expected to be met, the number of new starts expected on site has fallen alarmingly.
Following Gordon Brown's recent announcement that British troops will be withdrawn from Iraq Hinckley and Bosworth Liberal Democrats have called on local Labour and Tory MPs to apologise for supporting the war.
Many of the poorest children in Hinckley and Bosworth are not getting free school meals.
