Cole-Hamilton urges First Minister to act on antisocial driving
Speaking during this afternoon’s session of First Minister’s Questions in the Scottish Parliament, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? The Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Ed Davey, has appointed Gideon Amos, MP for Taunton and Wellington, to be the party’s Housing and Planning Spokesperson.
A number of roads and pavements have been resurfaced thanks to record investment fought for Liberal Democrat Councillors in the last two Council Budgets.
Increasing volumes of traffic means that it is more important than ever that road safety improvements are put in place on the pedestrian route from Newbridge to Ratho Station.
