The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Shuttle buses a step closer

Free shuttle buses in Rochdale are a step closer in Rochdale after transport bosses advertised the tenders for operators to run free shuttle buses in the town. Transport bosses have stressed that this does not guarantee the service. The deadline for expressions of interest is this Friday and the advert taken out in the Official Journal of the European Union is expected to attract significant interest.

Peascod Street Cobbles Symptomatic of Tory Incompetence on Transport brief

The Windsor Express reported this week that repairs to the cobbles in Peascod Street are falling apart almost before they are finished. Quoted in the Express one Windsor Conservative councillor was at least honest enough to own up to the Conservatives' failings saying, "some of the work done has been shocking" and also admitting that the Conservative councillors, "have got to get smarter with contractors".
