The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

Since taking control of the Council the Lib Dems have made it a priority to compulsory purchase abandoned buildings to improve the local street scene and increase the number of houses available in the City. Cllr Debbie Almey is pleased to announce that the old shop on Howard Road was one of the buildings buldings which will be brought back into use.
Cllr Debbie Almey has reported the illegal flyposting around the Mill Lane area. The Lib Dems are taking tough action against those who deface our streets. We will seek to recover the costs of removal of the flyposting from the offenders.
Local Councillors Mark Farmer and Dean Ramsdale have successfully asked the Council to install a pedestrian refuge outside the Eyres Monsell Community Centre on Hillsborough Road. They said, "this will assist people in crossing this busy road. In particular it will benefit elderly residents using the bus stops on Hillsborough Road and the Sturdee Road slip-road."
After many years of waiting under Labour, Lib Dem Councillors Dean Ramsdale and Mark Farmer have been successful in persuading the Council to build a lay-by to reduce the parking problems in Pen Close.
