Save our green belt
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Shepway Council update: Kent Home Choice - Choice Based Lettings
Kent Home Choice is the new choice based lettings scheme which comes into operation in Shepway at the end of January 2009. All local authorities in Kent and most housing associations with accommodation in Kent will be operating the same scheme in their areas by summer 2009.

Lib Dems Maintain Pressure on Heathrow
Local Liberal Democrats are continuing to campaign against the possible 3rd runway at Heathrow airport. At their annual conference recently Parliamentary Spokesman Mark Chapman urged the party to maintain the pressure on the Government and Lib Dem Shadow Transport Secretary, Norman Baker, affirmed Lib Dem opposition to the scheme.
