The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

I should like to thank everyone who voted Liberal Democrat in the County and Parliamentary elections on 5 May 2005.
Ten reasons this result is good for the Liberal Democrats
David Goodall reports: After the result last Thursday I must firstly thank the people of Southampton for clearly voting for the Liberal Democrats in much larger numbers than in the past. The contest in Southampton Itchen is undoubtedly one between the Liberal Democrats and Labour, as people switched in large numbers from Labour to Liberal Democrats and did not see the Conservatives as a viable place to take their vote to.
Peter Carroll has thanked voters across the Folkestone and Hythe constituency for backing him and the Liberal Democrat candidates for the Kent County Council elections last Thursday. Across the area, many thousands of people voted for the Liberal Democrats.
Anne Lee said that the Liberal Democrat votes increased by 17% in Woking at the General Election. She praised her team for delivering a result which went against the grain of a national swing to the Conservatives.
