Save our green belt

The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Dundee LibDems agree that assurances to NHS patients across Scotland "vital"

Dundee Liberal Democrats have today (Saturday 2nd February) welcomed news that Nicol Stephen MSP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland, has demanded that the Scottish Government come clean on how many patients have been dumped from NHS waiting lists in order to meet the Government's waiting times targets. This follows on from Mr Stephen raising the issue of patients being removed from an NHS Tayside Consultant's waiting list.

A meeting at the Gurkha Community Centre on Mackenzie Drive in Cheriton today head members of the Gurkha justice campaign outline some key outstanding areas of discrimination against ex-Gurkhas. The meeting was attended by many ex-Gurkhas, others from the Nepalese community, the Royal British Legion, local Lib Dem Councillors and other Liberal Democrats.

Surrey Roads Budget Under-spent for the Fifth Year Running

In answer to a question from John Doran, Lib Dem transport spokesperson, the Conservative executive member for transport on Surrey County Council admitted that the council was on target to under-spend its roads budget by nearly £1 million pounds. Mr Munro said "£1 million is about right".
