Save our green belt
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Lib Dems vow to fight capping plans
Local Lib Democrats have pledged to fight Government plans to cap Shepway Council's Council Tax rise. Capping would mean that local services would have to be slashed to the tune of £600,000.

Lib Dems Champion Recycling Review Suggestions
Lib Dems on Bedford Borough Council are calling for support from all councillors to implement the findings of a new review of recycling services, in particular in ironing out the problems that occurred when the 3 stream recycling was rolled out last April across one third of the Borough. The 3 stream system: orange bags, green bins or bags and usual black bins, is due to be extended to the other households in the Borough this October.
