The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

Local Lib Democrats have pledged to fight Government plans to cap Shepway Council's Council Tax rise. Capping would mean that local services would have to be slashed to the tune of £600,000.
Lib Dem Councillors have voted to re-open Shepway's toilets at a group meeting last night.
Opposition to the Council Tax is to be highlighted this week when local Liberal Democrats present the government with a petition signed by hundreds of residents who are demanding that the tax be axed.
