In a final appeal to the electorate of the East of England in advance of Thursday's elections, Liberal Democrat Euro MP for the East of England Andrew Duff says:
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

The numbers of planning applications being determined by the Finchley and Golders Green Planning sub committee are fewer and fewer. Whether this is down to the recession or whether it is because of the tighter rules on what can now come to committee is unclear.

Rochdale MP Paul Rowen has teamed up local car dealer Terry Mason to help raise £1650 for a School in Kenya. Both Mr Rowen and Mr Mason recently took the time to organise a special fund raiser at local restaurant the India Lounge on Spotland Road. The £1659 raised will go towards the cost of building a new school in Marigat, Kenya.
Local Liberal Democrats are celebrating the news that East Sussex Hospitals Trust is to introduce 'pay as you leave' parking at the Conquest and the Eastbourne District General Hospitals in the Autumn, despite having decided in March 2009 to postpone the plans for a year.
