The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

On Saturday (9th Sept) Robin Lawrence received a small leaflet asking for unwanted good quality clothing and other items to be put out for collection day on Monday. The proceeds would support third world orphans. Knowing that genuine charities provide plastic bags with their name clearly printed Robin was suspicious and investigated. He found that Staffordshire County Council Trading Standards had warned about the company behind these leaflets. Other members of the Focus Team received similar leaflets from a different company and again, Trading Standard have issued warnings about them.
Liberal Democrat Youth and Students are organising a fringe meeting, "Stop homophobic bullying" at Lib Dem Federal Conference. This will set out the problems of homophobic bullying in schools and how Liberal Democrats are fighting it including the online petition.
