Save our green belt
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Unambitious budget threatens South Lakeland's future - "We must invest to survive."
Westmorland and Lonsdale's MP Tim Farron has described Alistair Darling's budget announcement today as " staggeringly unambitious" and has expressed his disappointment at the lack of action to help people and businesses in South Lakeland struggling under the recession.

Lib Dem PPC to speak to Older People's Forum
The Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Scarborough and Whitby is to speak to the Filey and Scarborough Older People's Forum at Westborough Methodist Church today. Tania Exley-Moore has been invited to address the group and to participate in a debate with other parliamentary hopefuls, Dilys Cluer of the Green Party and Annajoy David of the Labour Party.
