A wrecking ball next to the words save our green belt

Save our green belt

The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Find our more about the local plan on our frequently asked questions page.

West Park Swings

Missing swings in the West Park

Wolverhampton South West Chair, Robin Lawrence, was contacted by several groups of parents determined to discover what had happened to the infants' swings in West Park. This well-used amenity is much was loved by local children and it certainly came as a shock to discover that the swings in question had been removed by Wolverhampton Council. Robin Lawrence swung into action to answer parents' concerns. Robin is pleased to report that the swings should be returned to the West Park by the end of November once the necessary repairs have been made.

David will now become the Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care and Councillor Irene Davidson will become Cabinet Member for Children's School's and Families. Constitutionally this may have to wait for formal ratification but the 2 Cabinet Members will swap positions with immediate effect.
