The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Merridale Liberal Democrat campaigner Nazim Hussain has welcomed the changes made to Merridale Road between Finchfield Road and Merridale Lane will contribute considerably to improved road safety. "The pinch points will not only reduce speeds but also prevent some of the dangerous over taking I have observed" he added.

Heather Kidd Wins National Campaigning Award

Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Ludlow, Heather Kidd (above), has won the Countryside Alliance's 'Grassroots Campaigner of the Year' award for her efforts in campaigning on behalf of schools, post offices and other rural services. There were 2,500 nominations for a variety of national awards from 'Community Shop of the Year' and' Rural Business of the Year' to' Rural Vision' and 'Rural Hero of the Year'.
