A wrecking ball next to the words save our green belt

Save our green belt

The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Find our more about the local plan on our frequently asked questions page.

Jonathan Webber says "Scrap Paget Road traffic plans"

The period has just ended and figures seen by Park Ward Liberal Democrats show that a significant majority of people who responded to the consultation were against the plans. In representing the views of the residents of Paget Road Jonathan Webber is calling on Wolverhampton Council to scrap the plans.

NHS Reform

Diana Ronaldson in her letter (EADT 15/8/09) highlighted a problem that working nurses often fear to mention. Their contract makes it a disciplinary offence to speak out, but it is from the frontline, not senior management that we need to hear from to understand the depth of the problem. The government has not pumped money into front line services. It has pumped money into managing and controlling the service.
