Save our green belt
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Local employment "highly vulnerable"
Mid Sussex is traditionally a low unemployment area but in the current recession nothing is guaranteed, and now it has been reported the area is in the highest category of risk for job losses outside London according to an article in the Local Government Association which describes the area's employment status as "highly vulnerable".

MFI Site Must be Protected against Unauthorised Encampments
Liberal Democrat Councillors have made an urgent appeal to MFI's administrators to put physical protection in place at the site of the recently-closed furniture store on Norse Road in Goldington, warning that it is vulnerable to unauthorised traveller encampments.

The Lib Dems are offering a "sense of hope and direction" for people suffering in the current economic climate, Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg has said. In a BBC interview Mr Clegg said his party had taken the lead on the economy and other key issues affecting the UK.
