The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Epsom Station Plans about to go "live"

A formal planning application for redevelopment of the Epsom Station area has been received by the council and should be validated by Monday 30th November. Epsom & Ewell Lib Dems host a public meeting to discuss the proposals on the same day : meet at Phoenix Club (behind the Odeon Cinema) at 7.30 pm.

Blair turned a blind eye to Iraq intelligence - Davey

Commenting on evidence given by a senior Foreign Office official to the Iraq Inquiry that the UK Government received intelligence in the days prior to invading Iraq that Saddam Hussein may not have been able use chemical weapons, Liberal Democrat Shadow Foreign Secretary, Edward Davey said "The threat that Saddam could deploy WMD within 45 minutes was fundamental to the Government's argument that Iraq presented an imminent danger. Yet this new evidence shows that the intelligence was, if anything, pointing towards Iraq becoming less of a threat.
