The Liberal Democrat Spring Conference today backed measures to build 1.3 million new social homes over the next ten years.
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. "VAT on fruit juice and smoothies should be cut from 17.5% to 5% to help encourage healthy diets, the Lib Dem Treasury Chancellor, Vince Cable, told the party's spring conference in Liverpool. The cut in duty would be paid for by a rise in tax on some alcoholic drinks. "Such a tax could raise an estimated £200m", he said.
