The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Sandgate Road Repairs to start, and last up to three months

Shepway Councillor Tim Prater has been told that, following a site meeting this morning between Kent Highways and Southern Water amongst others, works will begin tomorrow in Trinity Gardens, related to the issues in Sandgate Road. These are expected to last into next week and then work is expected to commence soon after to repair the sewer in Sandgate Road.

This afternoon the Liberal Democrats discussed their vision and values paper - Make it Happen! Liberal Democrat Park Ward Councillor Robin Lawrence said "Real change is needed in Britain to address the many problems facing ordinary people and families. The Make it Happen paper shows how the Liberal Democrats will do that."

Shepway Liberal Democrats have learned that a number of staff members at struggling South Kent College have received letters offering them the option to apply for voluntary redundancy in the past few weeks.
