The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Farron challenges DEFRA to set example over food procurement

Following last week's announcement that the NHS intends to tackle greenhouse emissions by reducing the amount of meat and dairy produce served in its hospitals, Tim Farron MP, the Shadow Secretary of State for DEFRA has called on the Government to take the lead in using the public sector to ensure that Britain has a sustainable food market.

Working all year round

With snow closing their work places or making then difficult to get to, Jonathan Webber and Councillor Robin Lawrence took the opportunity to call on a few residents in Park Ward. People were surprised and delighted to see them as they demonstrated the truth of the slogan "Liberal Democrats work all year round".
