The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Castleton Councillor Pat Flynn has welcomed the decision by the council's licensing sub-committee to refuse an extension of licensing hours to Eurosave Express on the corner of Manchester Road and Railway Approach, Castleton.

Folkestone Councillor Calls on Shepway to Clear Up Kingsnorth Gardens

Lib Dem Councillor for Harvey Central Gary Fuller is calling on Shepway Council to keep Kingsnorth Gardens tidy having been appalled at the amount of broken glass and rubbish during a recent visit. Gary was walking through the park with his wife and young children at just after 11am on Thursday 9th August when he came across an area littered with broken glass, empty beer cans and food wrappings. He was shocked to see that one of the ponds had a number of plastic bags and empty bottles and cans in it as well.

VJ (Victory in Japan) Remembrance

Folkestone Remembers VJ Day

An 11am service in the Garden of Remembrance on Sandgate Road in Folkestone marked VJ day today. The service, run by the Burma Star Association, marks the anniversary of the end of the 2nd World War in 1945 following the surrender of Japan.
