Save our green belt
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Lembit highlights testing
There are a host of fringe events at this week's Lib Dem conference. One of this evening's meetings focused on HIV and sexual health. Lembit Öpik, Liberal Democrat MP for Montgomeryshire, recalled visiting a Terrence Higgins Trust testing clinic earlier this year to promote sexual health in the run-up to Valentine's Day.

Precarious business this! I was out today in Brickhill helping to put up the signs warning that the area is protected by SmartWater. SmartWater is usually described as water with its own DNA.

Liberal Democrats call for a new international agreement on Energy and Climate Change
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate Robin Lawrence said "We need to develop a new sustainable economy, based on clean, renewable energy and the efficient use of energy and resources and reduced dependence on fossil fuels, to drive economic recovery, create thousands of jobs and help secure future energy supplies."
