The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

MP joins RAF Skyguard to monitor low-flying in the Lakes

A Lake District holiday park has been working closely with the RAF Police and local MP Tim Farron to keep a close eye on low flying aircraft. Limefitt Park - a luxury lodge holiday park situated in the spectacular Troutbeck Valley near Windermere, hosted a covert piece of military hardware which needs a 10-tonne lorry just to be moved.

Farron calls for 'fare play' for families

Local MP Tim Farron has written to Vernon Barker, the Managing Director of First Trans-Pennine Express trains to call for a reprieve for parents who have to pay for multiple tickets for rail travel for their children travelling to school. Mr Farron is asking First Trans-Pennine if they would consider a concession for a second and third child in a family so that families don't have to pay exorbitant rail fares.

Shepway Council CPA Assessment: Council "Fair"

A Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) reassessment of Shepway Council by the Audit Commission has reported that Shepway has moved from being "weak" to "fair". The CPA inspection verdict of "weak" was made in 2004, when Shepway was just one point away from being classed a 'poor' council.

In 2007, Canada recognised Folkestone with an award to mark the almost 90 years of uninterrupted Canada Day Remembrances held at Shorncliffe, presenting 2007 Mayor Peter Gane with a framed citation and medal.
