The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? A quarter of NHS Trusts failing to meet hygiene standards

NHS trusts in England are struggling to meet key hygiene standards, according to data submitted to the NHS watchdog. A quarter of the trusts report they are not complying with one of the three core standards relating to the hygiene code. 14% of trusts said they had failed to meet targets on reducing infection, up from 7% last year. In total there are 24 core NHS standards, covering everything from clinical effectiveness to governance. The Healthcare Commission said 40% of trusts were meeting all of these core standards.
